Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands drops you into a three-piece group of musicians—Faye, Ian and Briff—who treat a battle of the bands as a joke until a curse locks them into the contest. Five Houses LLC publishes this musical RPG, made with Dan Martin, in which songs hit as hard as swords and the trio has to function as a band.

Fights mix turns with action on the time gauge: Measure Effects sit on that gauge, and you can swap who is active between turns or on your turn. Nine musically themed classes dress the band, each with attacks, perks and an outfit that appears in dialogue portraits and cutscenes. More than one hundred skills and fifty accessories reshape how the setlist feels. Hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation, a wide soundtrack and writing built for humour carry the tour, with an Easy mode at save points and a bonus area of hard challenges.
