Dark Souls game keys: prepare to die
Dark Souls, released by FromSoftware in 2011 and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, grew out of Demon's Souls and changed modern game design. Its influence is so strong that a whole subgenre, the "soulslike", is named after it.
The formula is demanding but fair. Enemies hit hard, bonfires act as checkpoints that also respawn enemies, and dying drops your souls where you fell, giving you one chance to get them back. The interconnected world of Lordran is full of shortcuts, and the story is told through item descriptions and sparse dialogue rather than cutscenes.
The trilogy
Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III expanded the formula with new worlds and faster combat, and the series' DNA lives on in Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring. Dark Souls game keys are for players who find satisfaction in learning a boss's every move.
