Killing Floor started life as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 before Tripwire Interactive released it as a standalone game in 2009. The concept is simple and effective: a team of players defends a position against waves of grotesque biological experiments called Zeds, then buys new gear from the trader between waves.
Perks, waves and the Patriarch
Each player picks a perk such as Commando, Medic, Support or Sharpshooter, and good teams rely on everyone doing their job. The waves end with a boss fight, most famously the Patriarch. Killing Floor 2 in 2016 added detailed gore, slow-motion "Zed Time" moments and a heavy metal soundtrack, and Killing Floor 3 continued the series with a new setting and updated systems.
Killing Floor game keys are best enjoyed with a full squad of friends who do not mind a lot of noise and blood.
