Wartales is an open-world tactical RPG from Shiro Games, the Bordeaux studio behind Northgard. It entered Early Access in late 2021 and fully released in 2023.
There is no chosen hero here. A century after the fall of the Edoran Empire, a plague has ravaged the land, and you lead a band of mercenaries trying to survive. You take contracts, manage pay, food and morale, and choose whether to act as honourable sellswords or bandits. Battles are turn-based with an engagement system that locks units in combat, and permanent injuries and death make every fight count. Co-op for up to four players and expansions like Pirates of Belerion add more.
Wartales game keys suit players who love sandbox freedom and gritty tactical combat.
