JOIN US: The 4-Player Co-op Cult Game Coming March 2027
Most survival games ask you to chop trees and stack stones. JOIN US wants you to collect people instead. The debut game from Wolf Haus Games is an open-world sandbox in which you start your own doomsday cult, recruit followers from the population around you, build a fortified compound and defend it against locals, police and the government, alone or with up to three friends in online co-op.
If you were searching for the JOIN US release date, here is the short answer: March 2027. The studio had originally promised a fall 2026 launch on PC, but in June 2026 creative director Joe Dietsch explained that the game was moving to March 2027 so that it could arrive as a full release rather than a beta or Early Access build. At Gamescom 2026 the team confirmed that PlayStation 5 will launch on day one alongside Xbox and PC.
That makes JOIN US one of the more intriguing co-op projects on the 2027 calendar: a darkly comic premise backed by surprisingly deep systems. Below we break down how recruitment, Teachings and the compound work, what the narrative campaign includes, and why the delay is probably good news.

Your most valuable resource is people
Every character in the world, from civilians to enemies, is a potential recruit. You spread propaganda, manage your infamy and try to make the cult look worth joining. Once someone signs up, they become part of your workforce: you can assign them jobs, take them on missions or switch to playing as them directly.
Followers have strengths and weaknesses, so a smooth-talker, a doctor and a farmer are not interchangeable. They also have moods. Neglect them and they leave, which turns the usual survival loop of gathering and spending into something closer to managing a very strange community. The developers name Project Zomboid, State of Decay, The Forest and Valheim as influences, and you can feel that lineage in the mix of base management and moment-to-moment danger.

Life inside the compound: robed followers look after raised vegetable beds while a pig wanders between the plots – the farming loop added during 2026.
Teachings: design a belief system
The most distinctive system is Teachings, which let you build a custom ideology. The examples the studio has shared are deliberately absurd: UFO worship, ghosts of dead followers returning at night, spontaneous human combustion, worshipping weather events or eating worms – or people. Each belief changes how the game plays, and once your followers accept it you have to live with the consequences.
It is a clever way to give a sandbox personality. Two co-op groups could end up with cults that look, fight and survive in completely different ways.
Combat, crime and permadeath
Outsiders do not appreciate your lifestyle. A crime system sends sheriffs to the place where an offence happened, arriving faster in town than in remote farmland, and escalating police responses bring in helicopters. The arsenal runs from shotguns and miniguns to a launcher that fires live snakes.
Death matters, too. JOIN US uses permadeath, so a fallen character stays dead, unless a Teaching brings them back as a ghost.

Animal riding is part of the toolkit: a cultist makes his getaway on a pig as flames spread through the barn behind him.
A real campaign, voiced by humans
Beyond the sandbox there is a narrative campaign of 38 missions plus around 30 side missions, all playable in co-op. The studio says it has recorded roughly 12,000 voice lines with human actors, about 2,000 of them for the story, and that all dialogue was written by people rather than generated by AI.
Why the March 2027 delay makes sense
Wolf Haus is a team of 13 building a systems-heavy open world in Unreal Engine, and that is ambitious. The extra months are going towards optimisation, better networking, improved Steam Deck support, cloud saves and full controller support, with modding at launch being investigated but not promised. Closed PC playtests are planned before release. The main concern is scale: plenty of small-team survival games launch with performance issues, so the playtests will be the first real test.
Is JOIN US worth waiting for?
If your group enjoys survival games but is tired of yet another zombie or wilderness setting, JOIN US offers a genuinely fresh hook, a sense of humour and enough simulation to keep things unpredictable. Wishlist it and watch for playtest news. Until March 2027, Valheim is still one of the best co-op survival experiences for a small group, and you can pick it up at a fair price in the Urazon catalog.
