About Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a third-person science-fiction shooter developed and published by Capcom. Steam release date: 29 June 2007.

Humanity is close to extinction on EDN III, an ice-covered world ruled by the Akrid, enormous alien creatures, and by ruthless snow pirates. You play Wayne, a soldier who survives the cold by collecting thermal energy from defeated enemies. Fight on foot with a grappling hook and heavy weapons, or climb into Vital Suits, armed walking machines that can carry huge guns. Blizzards, frozen cities and caves set the scene for boss fights against creatures many times your size, and the PC release adds DirectX 10 effects and online multiplayer for up to 16 players.

Related Games

Climbing into a Vital Suit is the closest thing Lost Planet has to a signature, and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon builds an entire game around that feeling, letting you assemble and pilot your own mech through fast, punishing boss fights. For the frozen-colony mood and alien threats seen over the shoulder, Dead Space (2008) trades snowfields for a derelict mining ship but keeps the third-person view and the dread of things crawling out of the dark. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 goes the other way and turns the bug-hunting into a loud, crowded war against endless alien swarms. And if fighting the cold itself interested you as much as fighting monsters, The Long Dark drops the guns almost entirely and leaves you alone with a frozen wilderness.
