About Craft The World
Craft The World is a unique sandbox strategy game that its creators describe as a mix of Dungeon Keeper, Terraria and Dwarf Fortress. Developed by Dekovir Entertainment and Sibear Games and published by Dekovir Ltd, it was released on 24 November 2014. You explore a randomly generated world populated by dangerous creatures, build a dwarf fortress, gather resources and craft all the items, weapons and armour you need. You do not steer a single hero; you take the role of a divine being guiding a whole tribe, which gives the game its own blend of colony management, crafting and tower-defence tension.
You control your tribe by giving the dwarves commands to dig in certain places, attack enemy creatures and build houses and other structures. They depend on you for food and clothing, as well as for magical help when fighting the other inhabitants of the world. You start each game with a single dwarf and gain more as your experience level increases. Every level is generated as an island bounded by oceans at the edges, lava beneath and the sky above, with many layers of earth to explore. Day and night, changing weather and worlds that differ in size, humidity, temperature, terrain, flora and fauna keep each run fresh.
A user-friendly crafting system sits at the core. Recipes are organized and easily accessible, and you can craft dozens of items: building blocks, furniture, decorations, weapons, armour, ammunition and food. You begin with basic tools and a small house with places to sleep and eat, but as the tribe grows it attracts the attention of the world's other inhabitants, most of them night creatures dwelling underground, such as zombies, skeletons, goblins, beholders, ghosts and giant spiders. Abandoned halls and treasure rooms are hidden deep within each island, rewarding those who dig farther and explore with care.
Especially dangerous are the waves of monsters that pour out of portals from time to time, so building a safe haven with strong walls, trapdoors, cells, firing towers and secret passages is essential. As a divine being you can speed up your dwarves, open small portals, light dark caves to scare monsters away, summon rain or tree growth, hurl fireballs and reveal useful resources and hidden rooms underground. Craft The World can be played alone or in online co-op, and GOG lists achievements and cloud saves. It runs on Windows and macOS, making it a cosy pick for anyone who loves digging, building and defending.
