About Shelter 2
Shelter 2 is an animal survival adventure created by the Swedish studio Might and Delight and released in 2015. You take on the role of a lynx mother who has just given birth to a litter of cubs in the cold northern wilderness. From that moment on, every decision you make is about their survival. You must find food, keep them safe from danger and guide them through the changing seasons until they are strong enough to face the world on their own.
Hunting is the heart of daily life. You stalk hares, foxes, deer and other animals, creep through tall grass and time your leap so the prey cannot escape. Each successful catch can be carried back and shared with the cubs, who grow hungry quickly and depend on you for everything. The cubs follow you as you roam, and you can watch them learn, play and gradually become more independent. Losing one of them is possible, which gives every journey a quiet sense of tension.
The world is a large open landscape of forests, frozen lakes, rivers, meadows and mountains, all rendered in a striking low-poly style that resembles painted paper. Weather and seasons change as time passes, turning green valleys into snowfields and affecting how easy it is to find food. You are free to explore at your own pace, discover dens and hidden areas, and decide where to take your family next. There is no complex interface, so the experience feels calm and immersive.
Shelter 2 is played in single-player and supports controllers as well as mouse and keyboard. Over the course of a full year in the wild, your cubs grow from fragile kittens into young hunters, and the bond you build with them is the emotional core of the game.
