About Toasterball

Toasterball is a physics-based sports game developed and published by Les Crafteurs and released on 3 May 2023. The idea is delightfully absurd: you control a living toaster on a court, and pressing a single button ejects your toast, which sends the whole appliance hopping into the air. Timing those hops to strike the ball and push it into the opposing goal is the entire game, and it is easy enough for anyone to pick up within seconds while still rewarding precise practice over many sessions.

Behind the simple control sits a surprising amount of technique. Skilled players learn the double jump, the TURBOFLIP and other pro moves that let a toaster spin, redirect the ball in mid-air and land spectacular shots from awkward angles. Positioning matters as much as reflexes, since a well-timed block near your own goal can swing a tight match. The physics engine makes every bounce slightly unpredictable, so even familiar plays can end in comic disasters or brilliant last-second rescues.

The real twist comes after each goal. Toasterball picks one of 24 random variants that change the rules of the next round, adding lava pits, portals, moving platforms, explosions, a retro paddle court and other surprises. Matches take place in five arenas, including Toasterball Arena, Panachado Forest, Breadington Square, the castle of Tartembourg and the beaches of Porto Rada. Fourteen athletes are split between the Burners and the Defrosters, and a custom mode lets you shape your own rule sets.

The game supports one to four players on a single PC with shared or split screen, either competing head to head or playing on the same team, and Remote Play Together lets distant players join a local session. Solo players can face the computer toasters Beep, Boop and Bleep-Bloop. Toasterball offers full controller support, cloud saves and stat tracking, runs on modest hardware, and comes with English audio plus subtitles in nine further languages including Polish, German, French and Italian. It is rated USK 12.
