About Dead as Disco
Dead as Disco is a rhythm action beat em up developed and published by Brain Jar Games, which launched in Early Access in May 2026. It puts you in the shoes of Charlie Disco, a fallen icon with one chance to reclaim the spotlight from the Idols, Charlie’s former bandmates and musical legends. For the first time in ten years, the living members of the legendary band Dead as Disco are reuniting for a concert honouring their dead drummer, Charlie Disco himself. You are Charlie, and for one night only you can have your revenge. The result is a stylish, literal beat em up set in a world torn apart by music, fame and betrayal.
Combat is built around the soundtrack. You attack, dodge and take down enemies in perfect sync with the music, and landing hits on the beat keeps your combo flowing and your score climbing. Every fight feels like a live performance, with flashy takedowns and perfect dodges timed to each bar of the song. You master the musical path of each Idol to unlock new talents, moves and dances, building a personal style of fighting the game calls Beat Kune Do. The groove is far more than decoration, because reading the rhythm is your ultimate weapon against crowds of foes and towering bosses.
The handcrafted, non-linear story follows a tale of reunion, revenge and redemption. You confront your ex-bandmates, now larger than life Idols, and uncover the secrets of the past to find out the truth of who really killed Disco. Between fights you return to the Dive Bar, your home away from home, which you customise by collecting memorabilia from past and present while unlocking the true story of the band. Over the top fashion from all the stars of this world lets you dress Charlie however you like. The music mixes an original streamer safe score with licensed tracks from past and present.
Dead as Disco also lets you play any song in your own music library, edit music videos and craft your own music synced spectacle, and it is ready for modding by its community. It features full controller support including DualShock and DualSense pads, cloud saves and twenty six achievements.
