About First Class Trouble

First Class Trouble is a social deduction party game set aboard the luxurious intergalactic cruise ship ISS Alithea. It was developed and published by Invisible Walls and released on 1 November 2021 for Windows. Players must work together and against each other to survive a disaster, and the goal is to shut down the Central Artificial Intelligence Network, better known as CAIN, before it and its loyal Personoids take control of the ship. The mix of retro glamour, science fiction and mischief gives every round a charming yet unsettling atmosphere.

Each player takes the role of a human Resident or a rebellious Personoid. Residents collect information about the passengers, deduce who they can trust and who to avoid, and team up to eliminate the suspected Personoids before engaging in the shutdown of CAIN. Personoids are human-looking killer robots who must lie, disrupt and deceive their way through the ship. They either reach CAIN to unleash its full potential or remove the remaining Residents to secure control of the vessel, all while keeping their true identity hidden.

Talking is at the heart of the game. Proximity based voice chat means you only hear the players near you, which makes whispered alliances and sudden accusations feel natural. Text chat and an emote wheel add further ways to communicate, bluff and react. Because Personoids use their unique skills to move through the shadows and strike when a Resident threatens their cover, every conversation can be a test of nerves, and a confident lie can be just as powerful as a clever deduction.

The ISS Alithea is described as the ultimate playground for happy accidents. Environmental hazards such as fires, bad wiring and poorly hanging chandeliers can all be used to get rid of other passengers when it suits you. Interactions are fully physical, so you can whack a rival to the end of the pool with a racket or simply nudge a foe into the fire and look away for a while. The occasional flying champagne bottle also comes in handy when wit alone is not enough.

Several levels with unique themes and styles bring their own items and interactions, from glittering shopping decks to dim neon halls, plush lounges and a bar full of passengers in evening wear. Customisation adds personal flair: you can shop for new clothes and accessories in the onboard mall with your hard-earned Infinity Coins, and spend spare cash on upgrading your Vruumba. Standard games are played with 6 players, while custom games support anywhere from 4 to 12 players.

First Class Trouble supports achievements, trading cards and full controller support, and cross-platform play is listed. A broadband internet connection and a microphone are recommended for the full experience. Text is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and several other languages, with full audio in English. The game is rated USK 16 in Germany for intense violence and 14 in Brazil, so it is aimed at older teenagers and adults who enjoy a mischievous evening of bluffing.
