About World of Goo

World of Goo is a physics-based puzzle and construction game created by 2D BOY, the two-person studio of Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, released on 13 October 2008. It won several awards at independent game festivals and became one of the best-known titles of the early indie wave on PC.

Each level asks you to guide curious little goo balls to a pipe that sucks them away. You drag and drop the squirming creatures to connect them into towers, bridges and other wobbly structures, and every new piece must hold up under gravity, wind and the weight of everything already built.

New goo species appear as you progress, and each changes the rules. Some can be detached and reused, some burn, some float like balloons and lift a construction into the air, while others stick to walls or form sturdy beams, so many puzzles depend on combining their traits in clever ways.

The adventure spans five chapters that move from green hills and windy cliffs to an industrial city and a strange digital realm. A mysterious Sign Painter leaves witty notes throughout, and behind the bright visuals lies a quietly satirical story about a company that wants to turn the goo into products.

Every level has an optional goal for collecting extra balls, which rewards efficient building and gives perfectionists a reason to return. Surplus goo is sent to World of Goo Corporation, a sandbox where you stack an endless tower and compare its height on a global leaderboard.

The hand-drawn art has a playful yet slightly eerie charm, and the orchestral and electronic soundtrack composed by Kyle Gabler remains one of the most praised scores in the genre. The game supports the mouse as its main control method and is easy to learn but tricky to master.

The current release needs a 64-bit processor and operating system and runs well on modest machines. World of Goo is a great pick for anyone who likes physics puzzles, inventive construction challenges and a game with plenty of personality.
