About Uurnog Uurnlimited

Uurnog Uurnlimited is a whimsical 2D puzzle platformer with one simple goal: find your way around a strange world and steal all of its animals. Why? Because they are adorable. The game was created by Nifflas Games, the studio behind Knytt, published by Raw Fury and released on 16 November 2017 for Windows and macOS. It draws inspiration from Super Mario Bros. 2, Lyle in Cube Sector and Dyad, mixing light platforming with item juggling and plenty of odd humour.

The world is made of many rooms connected by mysterious doors, and each door can lead somewhere new. You pick up blocks, animals and tools, throw them, stack them and use them to reach hidden spots or solve puzzles. Items such as Activate, Flap and Shoot change what you can do, so carrying the right object at the right moment is the key to progress. Animals and useful finds have to be carried back to your Save Room, which acts as your base and your save file at the same time.

That Save Room is the clever twist at the heart of the game. It stores everything you bring home, including your blunders, so a careless throw or a lost item can stay with you for good. Chaotic neutral characters roam the world and can mess with your plans, which keeps even familiar rooms unpredictable. Survive long enough and you will face challenging boss fights, and if you dig deep enough you may even meet the Uurnog itself.

The soundtrack is algorithmic, adapting its melody, tempo and key to what is happening on screen, so the music shifts with every jump and explosion. You can play alone or hand a second controller to someone and explore together on one shared screen. Pixel-style visuals in bright neon colours, multiple endings and a stack of hidden secrets give players a reason to return after the credits. It is rated USK 12.
