About Endling: Extinction is Forever

Endling: Extinction is Forever is an eco-conscious survival adventure developed by Herobeat Studios and published by THQ Nordic. Steam release date: 19 July 2022.

You are the last mother fox on a planet ravaged by pollution, logging and industry, and your only goal is to keep your cubs alive. At night you leave the den to explore side-scrolling 3D areas, hunt for food, avoid predators and hide from humans; by day you rest and plan the next move. Each cub develops its own personality and needs, and one has been taken by a scavenger, giving the journey a heartbreaking thread. The world changes over time, showing the effects of human destruction. Expect some disturbing scenes and violence against animals.

Related Games

Endling's story of a small creature protecting its family in a hostile forest has a lot in common with Ori and the Will of the Wisps, where a guardian spirit fights to heal a dying woodland and the emotional bond between characters drives every chapter. Little Nightmares shares the side-on view and the constant feeling of being small and hunted, though its world is a grotesque vessel rather than a ruined countryside. DREDGE carries a similar quiet unease about what humans have done to nature, this time on a fishing boat among strange, mutated waters. And Creaks is a gentler pick, a side-scrolling puzzle adventure where you outwit creatures in the dark through careful timing rather than speed.
