About BROK the InvestiGator

BROK the InvestiGator is a narrative adventure game with action and RPG elements, developed and published by COWCAT. Steam release date: 26 August 2022.

In a light-cyberpunk city where animals have replaced humans, the privileged live under a dome away from the polluted air while everyone else scrapes by outside. Brok, an alligator private detective and former boxer, looks after Graff, the son of his late wife, and still wants to know what really happened in her accident. Many problems can be solved with your head or your fists: combine clues, question suspects, make choices that change the story and level up for street fights. An easy mode lets you skip fights for pure point-and-click, two characters can be swapped at any time, and the 15 to 20 hour story is fully voiced with several endings.

Related Games

Brok's mix of deduction and dialogue choices has its closest relative in Disco Elysium - The Final Cut, a detective RPG where you also rebuild a case from clues and your skills decide how conversations go, though with no fists involved and far more text. The cartoon look and verbal humour point straight back to The Curse of Monkey Island, the hand-drawn LucasArts adventure that set the tone for jokes-plus-puzzles games. Lacuna is a quieter pick: a sci-fi noir mystery where you file evidence and live with the consequences of wrong conclusions. And Broken Age shares BROK's soft, painted style and its story about a family bond under pressure, told through classic point-and-click puzzles.
