About Meganoid
Meganoid is a high-stakes platformer from the independent developer Orangepixel, released on GOG in 2017. Survival is not guaranteed, and each session reshapes the world beneath your feet. You step into the ever-evolving corridors of a mysterious ship, and every playthrough delivers a new, procedurally generated labyrinth filled with relentless security drones, deadly traps and secrets waiting to be unearthed. The goal is simple to describe and hard to achieve: reach the exit of each level and push deeper into the depths of the ship.
The platforming is brutal and precise, with tight jumps, lethal hazards and dynamic enemy encounters at every turn. Because the layouts change each time, you can never simply memorise a route, yet the levels keep a sense of familiarity that lets your skills grow from run to run. You constantly decide whether to charge forward, narrowly dodging death to reach the exit, or to linger and risk everything for hidden treasures. The deeper you go, the greater the rewards and the deadlier the opposition becomes.
Gadgets change the way you move and fight. Jetpacks give you mid-air manoeuvrability, anti-gravity boots grant double jumps, and other upgrades redefine your movement and strategy. Keycards let you hack the system and bend the ship’s defences to your will: you can disable turrets, weaken enemy rockets or make enemies drop extra loot. Exploring off the main path uncovers hidden areas, rare items and alternative routes, rewarding bold and curious players who are willing to take a few extra risks on the way down.
