About Mirror's Edge
Mirror's Edge is a first-person action adventure developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts in 2008. It is set in a gleaming city that looks like a utopia, but beneath its clean surfaces lies a society where communication is tightly monitored and controlled. To move information away from prying eyes, a network of agile couriers called Runners carries messages across the rooftops. You are Faith, one of these Runners. When a crime is committed and your sister is framed for it, you suddenly find yourself hunted, and the only way to uncover the truth is to keep running.
The heart of the game is movement. Seen through Faith's own eyes, you sprint, slide, vault, wall-run, climb pipes and leap across gaps high above the streets. Moves chain together into a fluid flow, and keeping momentum is everything. Runner Vision highlights useful objects in red, guiding you along fast routes without breaking the pace, and you can switch it off for a tougher challenge. Every breath, landing and collision is felt in first person, and the heights create a genuine sense of vertigo that few games have matched.
When the authorities close in, you choose between fight or flight. Faith can disarm pursuers with quick, well-timed moves and briefly use their weapons, but the game rewards those who simply outrun danger. A full playthrough is possible while hardly firing a shot. Beyond the story, Time Trials and Speed Runs turn each stage into a race against the clock, pushing you to learn shortcuts and perfect every jump. The striking art style, with white buildings splashed with bold color and a memorable soundtrack, still looks fresh today.
