About Sonic CD

Sonic CD is a classic platformer developed by Blit Software and published by SEGA, released on Windows on 19 January 2012 as an enhanced recreation of the original game. Sonic travels to the distant shores of Never Lake for the once-a-year appearance of Little Planet, a mysterious world where past, present and future collide through the power of the Time Stones hidden within it.

Sonic arrives only to find the once beautiful world imprisoned beneath a twisted metallic shell. His arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman, has come for the Time Stones and will soon have the power to control time itself, so Sonic must travel through time, destroy Eggman's machines in the past to break his hold over the future and recover the missing stones.

This edition features 16:9 widescreen, achievements, leaderboards and both the US and Japanese soundtracks. It is the adventure through time that introduced the world to Amy the Hedgehog and to Metal Sonic, Eggman's most evil creation, and it pairs fast 2D running with a story where every change to the past shapes what comes next. Each zone has past, present and future versions, so exploring every era rewards curious players with new routes and secrets.

The game runs on Windows. It runs on Windows XP or later and supports English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The minimum setup needs a 32 MB graphics card, DirectX 9.0 and 50 MB of storage. The game holds a USK 6 rating and is ideal for players who enjoy fast platforming, retro classics and colourful time-travel adventures. Because the requirements are so modest, it suits older laptops and compact desktops, and a gamepad makes the high-speed loops, springs and boss fights feel just like the original release.
