Panzer Dragoon: Remake is a modern recreation of the cult 1995 Sega Saturn rail shooter, rebuilt by MegaPixel Studio and published by Forever Entertainment. You play as Keil Fluge, a young hunter who witnesses a battle between two dragons and inherits the mission of a dying rider. The game moves you along fixed flight paths through seven episodes, from flooded ruins and sunken cities to vast deserts and fortified enemy fleets. The real freedom comes from the camera, since you can turn your view a full 360 degrees and engage threats coming from the front, the sides or behind you. Your dragon fires a rapid stream of shots, and the signature lock-on laser lets you paint several targets with the cursor and release a homing volley that strikes them all at once. Learning when to switch between these attacks is the heart of every run.
Enemies include swarms of dragonflies and wasps, armored gunships, burrowing sandworms and towering battleships that fill the sky. Each episode ends with a large boss fight that tests your awareness and aim, and a radar at the edge of the screen shows where the next danger will appear. The remake offers two control schemes, a classic setup faithful to the Saturn version and a modern one with more comfortable aiming, and it adds full controller support. Scores, accuracy and the number of enemies shot down are tracked, which pushes you to replay episodes for better results.
