About The Gap

The Gap is a first-person narrative adventure developed by the Polish studio Label This and published by Crunching Koalas. It was released for Windows PC on 19 October 2023 and focuses on story, atmosphere and careful exploration of everyday places.

You play as Joshua, a man whose family is affected by a rare neurological affliction. Driven by the fear of what this illness may take from him, he sets out to recover memories that have slipped away and to understand how his life reached its current state.

The central idea is déjà vu. When a familiar detail repeats, Joshua can step into a parallel reality where the same space looks different, and moving between these versions of his past reveals new objects, conversations and turning points.

Exploration is calm and hands-on. You examine items, read notes, look at photographs and connect fragments of information, and many rooms only make sense after visiting their counterpart in another reality and returning with fresh knowledge.

The story touches on science, family bonds and the hard choices people make when their future is uncertain. It moves between joyful and painful moments, from a busy party to a silent hospital ward, and treats its difficult themes with maturity.

Detailed interiors, soft lighting and an understated soundtrack give each scene a personal, lived-in feel. Full controller support is available alongside mouse and keyboard, and achievements reward players who search every corner.

The Gap suits players who enjoy story-driven exploration games, quiet mysteries and emotional dramas told through rooms, objects and memories more than action.
