About No Time To Explain Remastered

No Time To Explain Remastered is a comedy platformer developed and published by tinyBuild, released on 17 July 2015 for Windows. It is a rebuilt version of the cult indie hit that began life as a Kickstarter project, now remade in Unity with smoother controls, improved visuals and a wealth of new content. The result is a fast, chaotic and very funny adventure that never takes itself seriously, yet still offers precise jumping and plenty of challenge for skilled players.

The premise is gloriously absurd. Your future self suddenly crashes into your house, shouts that there is no time to explain and is promptly snatched away by a giant monster. From that moment you are swept into a frantic chase through time and alternate realities, trying to rescue yourself before things get even stranger. Giant monsters, hats and cake all play their part, and the voice acting adds plenty of charm to every ridiculous twist of the story.

Everything revolves around the Future Cannon, a powerful laser gun that you pick up at the very start. It works both as a weapon and as a jetpack, so firing it at the ground launches you into the air, while aiming it at enemies tears them apart. Learning to control the recoil is the key skill of the game, and soon you will be flying over gaps, hovering past hazards and blasting through levels with satisfying style and speed.

The remastered edition introduces new characters with their own unique movement. One hero uses a blast to propel himself, another relies on a beam, a third swings around with a slingshot and another flies with a catapult. Each version of you changes how levels are approached, so the game constantly surprises with new mechanics. Switching between these styles keeps the pace fresh and gives the campaign far more variety than a typical platformer of its size.

Boss fights are huge and memorable. You face giant alien crabs, enormous sharks that burst through walls and an evil alternate version of yourself, among other surprising foes. These battles test everything you have learned about the Future Cannon and often take place in spectacular arenas. In between, sixty hidden hats are scattered across the levels, encouraging careful exploration and rewarding curious players with a fun collection of silly headwear.

When the campaign is over, the fun does not have to stop. A full level editor lets you build your own stages, and Workshop support makes it easy to share them or try creations from other players. Nine achievements give you some extra goals to chase, and an original soundtrack keeps the energy high throughout. Full controller support means the game plays comfortably with a gamepad, which suits its fast and precise movement especially well.

No Time To Explain Remastered runs on Windows XP or newer with a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and a graphics card with 128 MB, so almost any computer can handle it. The game is available in English. For anyone who enjoys quirky humour, inventive mechanics and fast platforming, it is a delightfully silly time-travel adventure full of surprises from beginning to end.
