About Runeborn

Runeborn is a dark fantasy roguelike developed by iDream Interactive and published by Goblinz Publishing and Astrolabe Games. Steam release date: 10 March 2026.

Instead of playing cards from a hand, you build a Runebook whose runes spin onto a board each turn, a little like the reels of a slot machine. Matching symbols and clever placement trigger chains of effects, and trinkets multiply them into absurd damage numbers. Each run takes you through enemies and bosses of the tyrant Malakar, with new runes, pages and trinkets unlocking as you progress. There is no real-money gambling; the slot-style board is purely a gameplay mechanic.

Key Features

  • Runebook building – your deck is a spellbook.
  • Spinning rune board – slot-style combos.
  • Powerful trinkets – multiply your damage.
  • Boss fights – against Malakar's forces.
  • Permanent unlocks – new runes over time.

Related Games

The thrill of a combo that suddenly scores in the hundreds of thousands owes a lot to Balatro, the poker roguelike whose jokers and multipliers made big-number deckbuilders a genre of their own. Monster Train is the deeper strategic choice, a deckbuilder where you defend a train across several floors and stack synergies between clans. Mahokenshi - The Samurai Deckbuilder brings deckbuilding onto a hex map, with samurai and terrain adding a layer of positioning that Runeborn's board hints at. And This Ain't Even Poker, Ya Joker is the lighter, idle-leaning cousin, where poker hands and card upgrades keep pushing the score higher.
