About Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization is a standalone turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K, released on Steam on 23 September 2008.

A full reimagining of Sid Meier's 1994 classic, it turns the Civilization IV engine into a game about the colonial age in the Americas. You lead the English, French, Spanish or Dutch, found settlements along the coast and inland, and put colonists to work as farmers, fur trappers, carpenters or statesmen. Goods flow across the Atlantic to the European market, while relations with native nations and rival powers shift between trade, diplomacy and conflict. As your colonies grow, rising Liberty Bells build support for the final goal: declaring independence and defending it against the royal army.

Key Features

  • Four European powers – each with its own bonuses.
  • Colony economy – specialists, goods and trade.
  • Native diplomacy – trade, missions or conflict.
  • War of independence – the ultimate victory.
  • Multiplayer – play against others.
