About Spirit of the Island
Spirit of the Island is a life sim sandbox RPG developed by 1M Bits Horde and published by META Publishing, released on 17 August 2022. It is set on a bright set of tropical islands, where an old tradition from your homeland shapes the story: to become an adult and complete the coming-of-age ritual, you must set out on a journey of discovery. Your adventure begins on a distant island deep in a tropical archipelago, where you explore, meet the locals and lend them a hand to restore a tourist paradise, all while you try to uncover the mysteries of your own past.
There is plenty to do on the islands. Whatever you choose, you gain experience and improve your skills, unlock new recipes, explore, raise animals and travel to nearby islands, becoming more efficient at everything you do. Ten unique skills shape your progress, including farming, mining, foraging, social, crafting and fishing, which comes as its own special mini-game. Fourteen explorable islands each have their own fauna, secrets and dangers, and mysterious caves guarded by ancient creatures hold rewards that move you towards your final goal, revealing the secret of your past.
The world is your playground and you are free to do as you like: go on adventures, manage your lands, renovate, unlock achievements and settle into island life. You can also begin on a different location, a new island with more space for your imagination but a tougher start, which keeps things fresh for seasoned players. Character customization stays available during play, so you can change your look without starting over.
The game runs on Windows 10 64-bit and supports 10 languages, including English, German, French and Spanish. The minimum setup calls for an Intel Core i3 processor, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce MX110 graphics card, DirectX 10 and 8 GB of free disk space. It is rated USK 12 and suits players who enjoy relaxed farming, crafting and exploration with a gentle mystery running underneath.
