About Wild Country

Wild Country is a fantastical strategy game that blends collectible card game play with mechanics inspired by classic city-building games. It was developed by Lost Native, published by Lost Native and iterco, and released on 25 November 2024. In every match you use beautifully illustrated cards to construct buildings and perform abilities, all with one goal: to build the best city. Buildings score points, and the first player to reach the objective wins. The result is something unique and approachable, aimed at people who are looking for a game that is wholesome, comedic, strategic and packed with things to do.

Before a match you build a deck of 30 cards. Each card represents a Building, an Ability or an Event, and each comes with its own unique action. Your aim is to outsmart and outearn your rival by playing cards to place buildings and generate enough profit, but placement is crucial: putting certain building types next to one another can have positive or negative effects. That spatial puzzle turns every board into a small city plan. On top of it, unpredictable events such as earthquakes, snowstorms and rebellious raccoons can test your resolve or completely turn the tide of the match.

There is always something new to collect, learn and master. There is a deck for every personality and playstyle, and it is up to you to find the cards that support your winning strategy. You can also stand out from the crowd with plenty of customization, from mayors with their own personalities, skins and outfits to flags, emotes and cards. The single-player story campaign takes you through Big Sky Canyon, an idyllic region scattered with a colorful cast of characters: some think you are cool, some are determined to beat you, and others might even be from the future. Collect cards, discover mysteries, complete quests, or simply enjoy the view.

Wild Country also supports online play, where you can take your cards into both casual and ranked matches against other players. Never played a card game or a city builder before? That is no problem, because the game is easy to pick up while still offering plenty of depth, and customizable gameplay options let you take extra time or make an opponent less difficult. Regular free updates bring fixes, improvements, new quests, challenges and collectible content. If you want a relaxed but clever strategy game where a single well-placed building can win the day, this charming card game is an excellent pick.
