Private investigator Edward Carnby travels to Shadow Island off the coast of Maine to find out who killed his best friend, joined by the professor Aline Cedrac. Their plane crashes, separating them, and each has a full campaign of their own: Carnby fights through the forest and the Morton mansion, while Aline uncovers the house's secrets through puzzles and old documents. The flashlight is the heart of the game, revealing hidden items and keeping creatures of darkness at bay across beautifully pre-rendered rooms. Limited ammo, fixed camera angles and a tense soundtrack create the slow, deliberate horror of the early 2000s.
