About BONELAB
BONELAB is a physics-driven virtual reality action adventure from Stress Level Zero, released in September 2022. Sentenced to death, you embody an outcast trying to escape fate and discover a pathway to a hidden underground research facility. A series of challenging experiments and discoveries awaits beneath the city, and a road to the truth calls from the void. The game requires a SteamVR or OpenXR headset, and it builds directly on the ideas the studio first explored in Boneworks, pushing hands-on interaction further than most action titles in virtual reality.
Physics sit at the core of everything. The realistic systems from Boneworks have been fully improved and polished, so you can interact with the world with consistent confidence. Objects have weight, doors swing as you push them, weapons must be gripped with both hands and climbing depends on how well you hold on. This attention to physical detail makes every encounter feel tangible, whether you are stacking crates to reach a ledge, prying open a passage with a crowbar or improvising a defence from whatever is lying around the room.
Combat is visceral and varied. Using ranged, melee and exotic physics weapons, you engage enemy encounters with an entire armoury at your disposal, from rifles and pistols to clubs, blades and stranger tools. Enemies range from robots to skeletal foes, and each fight rewards clever use of the environment as much as accurate aim. Custom avatar importing lets you play looking however you want, and every avatar comes with physical stats to match, so a heavier body hits harder while a lighter one moves faster and climbs with more ease.
The layered narrative begins when you discover an underground lab in MythOS city. From there you gain access to many locations, including arenas, obstacle courses, tactical trials, sandboxes, experimental modes and user-generated levels. Collecting items, avatars and clues from these places lets you progress through the mysterious story and piece together what lies at the end of the road. Support for community-created content keeps the experience growing long after the campaign. The game runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and supports English.
