About Aquatico
Aquatico is an underwater survival city builder developed by Digital Reef Games and published by Overseer Games, released for Windows on 12 January 2023. The surface of the Earth has become a barren wasteland, forcing humanity to pour its remaining hope for a new beginning into the depths of the sea. Upon discovering a world below the tides, the chance to start over is finally within reach, and it is your task to make that fresh start work.
The new beginning comes with plenty of challenges. Surviving under the sea is never simple, and every decision you make shapes whether your settlement thrives or struggles. You plan roads, pipelines and connections across the ocean floor, keep an eye on energy, food and oxygen, and slowly turn a few lonely modules into a glowing city full of life, all while the dark water presses in from every side.
Building happens over multiple levels, which gives Aquatico its distinctive feel. The seabed is where you place core infrastructure and production facilities, such as factories, farms and power plants. Above them, huge glass domes form layers that house your people and protect them from the dangers of the depths. Balancing what goes below and what goes above is a satisfying puzzle that grows more interesting as the city expands.
Surviving the ocean means learning about it. You discover diverse biomes, gather resources, secure temperature readings and manage the different levels of your underwater base. The sea is full of natural life, and provoking creatures while you build and harvest may trigger dangerous events. Sharks and whales swarming your city are certainly not ideal, so careful planning around the local wildlife pays off in the long run.
A vast research tree lets you decide how your city develops. You unlock new technologies and buildings step by step, from defence grids to sushi houses and oxygen extractors, and the route you choose determines the kind of city you create. Some players focus on safety and stable supplies, while others push towards industry and expansion, and both paths offer their own rewards and difficulties.
Exploration extends far beyond the city limits. Using drones and submarines, you construct production lines and oversee expeditions to investigate the dark depths of the sea. Expeditions bring back rewards and rare resources that are crucial to life, and success opens the opportunity to delve even deeper into the unknown. Who knows what secrets hide across the ocean floor? With 44 achievements, there are plenty of goals to chase as well.
Aquatico requires 64-bit Windows 10 with an Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 10 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1050 3 GB or Radeon RX 560 4 GB and 10 GB of storage, and a mouse with a scroll wheel is recommended for smooth camera control. For anyone who loves city builders, survival management and the mysteries of the ocean, it is a calm yet challenging dive into building a new home for humanity.
