About Dungeons 4
Dungeons 4 is a dungeon building and real time strategy game developed by Realmforge Studios and published by Kalypso Media for Windows PC, released on 9 November 2023. The Absolute Evil and its loyal servant, the Dark Elf Thalya, return after the events of the previous game to triumph over the forces of good once more, this time in a world four times larger.
The game is split between two halves that feed each other. Underground you design your dungeon, digging out tunnels and rooms, placing production halls, treasuries and traps, and keeping your creatures happy so they work hard and fight well. Above ground, in the Overworld, you lead your armies against heroes, villages and fortresses in real time battles.
Three evil factions are at your command. The Horde brings its familiar goblins, orcs and naga, the Demons add fiery destructive power, and the Dwarves arrive as a new faction that builds its own underground strongholds and competes with Evil for space and resources. Each faction has distinct units and buildings, so army composition and dungeon layout change how you play.
Thalya plays a bigger role than ever. As a hero unit she can be sent directly into battle, grows stronger as the campaign progresses and unlocks abilities that turn the tide in tough fights. Her loud and sarcastic relationship with the narrator gives the story much of its charm.
The single player campaign spans dozens of missions full of jokes, references and parodies of fantasy and pop culture clichés. Alongside it, skirmish maps let you play together with up to three other players in shared sessions, and a level editor lets the community create and share its own scenarios.
The visual style is bright, detailed and full of personality, from glowing magenta throne halls to colourful Overworld forests that slowly turn dark and corrupted as your influence spreads. Full controller support makes the game comfortable on the couch as well as at a desk.
