About DOOM
DOOM is the 2016 reboot of the legendary first-person shooter series, developed by id Software, the studio that pioneered the genre and invented the deathmatch, and published by Bethesda Softworks. The Union Aerospace Corporation has built a massive research facility on Mars to harvest a powerful energy from Hell itself, and the experiment has gone terribly wrong. Demons now overrun the base, and only one person stands between their world and ours. As the lone DOOM Marine, awakened from an ancient sarcophagus, you have one task: stop the invasion by any means necessary.
The campaign rewards aggression above everything else. There is no taking cover and no waiting for health to regenerate, because health and ammo drop from the demons you destroy. Damaged enemies stagger and glow, letting you finish them with a brutal close-range glory kill that showers you with pickups, while the chainsaw turns tough foes into a supply of ammunition. Fast, fluid movement with double jumps and ledge grabs keeps every arena fight in constant motion. Expect intense, graphic violence; the game is rated 18 and aimed strictly at adult players.
Your arsenal mixes futuristic and classic weapons, from the heavy assault rifle and plasma rifle to the rocket launcher, the gauss cannon, the beloved super shotgun and the devastating BFG 9000. Weapon mods unlock alternate fire modes such as micro missiles or a charged shot, and challenges upgrade them further. Argent cells and Praetor suit tokens improve your health, armor, ammo capacity and suit abilities, and runes add perks that suit your style. Levels hide secrets, collectible figures and even playable classic maps, giving explorers plenty of reasons to look around between battles.
The journey leads from the industrial corridors of the Mars facility into the twisted landscapes of Hell itself, backed by a pounding industrial metal soundtrack by Mick Gordon. Arcade mode and the Ultra-Nightmare difficulty, with permanent death, add serious replay value for skilled players. Please note that this DRM-free GOG version of DOOM is single-player only: online modes and the online functions of SnapMap are not included, while SnapMap content is unlocked by default. It supports achievements, cloud saves and controllers. A modern classic for anyone who loves fast, skill-driven shooters.
