About DOOM 64
DOOM 64 is an action first-person shooter and a direct sequel to the events of DOOM II. Originally released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997, it was brought to PC and consoles in an enhanced version in 2020 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of DOOM. This edition is developed by id Software and Nightdive Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks LLC. The story picks up years after you stopped Hell’s invasion of Earth. Quarantined for humanity’s safety, the UAC research facilities on Mars were abandoned and forgotten, until now. A signal from a degraded satellite suggests that a single entity remains, and it has the power to resurrect the demons. As the only surviving marine who fought Hell’s forces, you are sent on a lone crusade to hunt down the Mother of Demons and stop a renewed demonic invasion before it can spread again.
The 2020 release adds a number of improvements over the original. The visuals have been upgraded, mouse and keyboard controls are improved, and gamepad and controller support is included. The game supports widescreen resolutions and runs at a native 60 FPS. It offers more than 30 action-packed levels, along with the additional Lost Levels, which continue the story beyond the original campaign. Together, these changes let the game’s dark atmosphere and fast shooting play smoothly while staying faithful to the 1997 design.
DOOM 64 runs on Windows. The minimum requirements are a 64-bit processor and 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-750 processor, 8 GB of RAM and an R7 240, GTX 660 or Intel HD 530 graphics card.
