Firefighting Simulator - The Squad is a firefighting simulation developed by Chronos Unterhaltungssoftware and published by astragon Entertainment, released on 17 November 2020. It lets you experience what it means to fight fires up close as an active member of a major US city's fire department. The game world covers a large townscape inspired by the North American West Coast, with more than 40 diverse deployment locations spread across industrial areas, quiet suburbs and a busy downtown, each offering its own challenges by day and by night.
When the alarm sounds every minute counts. You pull on your boots, start the engine, switch on lights and siren and take the shortest route to the scene. Five faithfully reproduced, licensed Rosenbauer America fire trucks are available, including the TP3 Pumper and the T-Rex hydraulic platform, and you can drive them from a cockpit view. On site you use authentic equipment from well-known North American brands such as Cairns helmets, MSA G1 breathing apparatus and HAIX boots, making the work feel credible and grounded.
The fire simulation is the core of the experience. Water, smoke and heat are modelled in detail, along with backdrafts, flashovers and grease fires, and blazes can start from electronics, chemicals or explosions. A complex physics system shows the destruction caused by dynamically spreading flames, so every operation demands careful planning. You must choose the right extinguishing method, ventilate rooms, search for trapped people and carry them to safety while keeping your own team protected from collapsing structures.
In single-player you lead an experienced squad of AI colleagues, assigning tasks through an intuitive command interface while stepping into the action yourself. In the co-op multiplayer mode up to four players can work together online, with each person free to choose whichever role suits them best. A comprehensive tutorial, radio communication and English voice recordings with subtitles in many languages create a dense atmosphere, supported by realistic engine sounds. Full controller support and achievements are included.
