About MISERY
MISERY is a rogue-lite survival game developed by Platypus Entertainment and published by Ytopia, released on 23 October 2025. You play as private military contractors guarding a secret research institute in the Republic of Zaslavie, built before the war to study anomalies and artifacts. Over time those artifacts became the cause of conflict between international military blocs, and neither side could allow them to fall into enemy hands, which ultimately led to nuclear war. A siren sounds, a bomb is incoming, and you have sixty seconds to grab whatever you can and make it to the bunker before the survival begins.
Each day you venture into the Exclusion Zone to scavenge procedurally generated locations such as abandoned military bases, research stations, radioactive wastelands and ruined cities. The Zone is full of secrets and deadly traps, and radiation is far from the only threat: other survivors will kill for food and resources, mutated creatures behave in unique ways, and anomalies of unknown origin can either help you or tear you apart. Anomaly areas often hide artifacts, rare and valuable items charged with unique effects. Back home, the bunker grows room by room as you install gas, solar or even gnome-powered generators, build crafting stations, grow food, cook meals and decorate the shelter with whatever you drag back from raids.
After each raid you can unwind at the bar in the basement of the institute, talk to other survivors and trade loot and rare artifacts with the merchant. You have to watch your vitals, because hunger, thirst, radiation sickness and mental strain can all end a run. Go out looting during the day and return before nightfall, since too much stress brings whispers, visions and the feeling that someone is watching. Up to four players can share the Zone and the bunker.
The game runs on Windows 10 64-bit or Linux and supports 16 languages with full audio, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Polish. The minimum setup requires an Intel Core i3-3240 processor, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card, DirectX 11 and 7 GB of free disk space. It is rated USK 12 and suits players who enjoy tense scavenging, base building and atmospheric post-apocalyptic survival.
