About Moon Mystery
Moon Mystery is a first-person shooter adventure full of puzzles and action, set on strange new worlds. It was developed by the studio Cosmoscouts, published by indie.io and released in October 2024. The Moon is our closest celestial neighbour and a place full of mystery, and there is much more out there than grey rocks and impossible challenges. A lone astronaut learns that first hand when he loses all contact with Earth and begins an interstellar odyssey across the universe. The grey surface of the Moon is only the first step on a long journey, and you will not see Earth again for quite a while.
Humanity’s return to the Moon was no easy feat and required state of the art technology and artificial intelligence. Your task is to piece together what happened to the previous mission on the Silver Globe, with the sole survivor at your side: the station’s AI computer. The first permanent lunar base is the point where everything went wrong. What happened there, what do you need to prepare yourself against, and why did humanity go to the Moon in the first place? Those questions drive the story forward as you explore deserted modules, read the clues left behind and follow a trail that leads far beyond our planet.
The Moon is one of the most hostile environments known to man, so your wits and platforming skills are always put to the test. You cross treacherous landscapes and vast abandoned bases, and you pilot several vehicles to reach new areas and solve the many puzzles that await. There are spaceships, radio controlled cars and lunar rovers, and later even a submarine that takes you through the waters of an alien world. Each vehicle brings its own challenges, which keeps the pace varied between careful exploration, driving sections and thinking through a tricky mechanism.
Outsmarting puzzles is only one part of the trip. Malfunctioning robots stalk the corridors of the base, and other, more terrifying and mysterious foes wait further along the road. Keep your oxygen tanks full and your magazines topped up, because you will need both to survive. The mix of shooting, exploration and puzzle solving gives the game a classic adventure rhythm with a strong sense of isolation and discovery. It is a single player experience with partial controller support.
