About Prey

Prey is a first-person science-fiction action adventure developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was released on Steam on 4 May 2017.

In 2032 you wake up as Morgan Yu aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the Moon, as the key subject of an experiment meant to change humanity. The station has been overrun by the Typhon, shape-shifting aliens that can disguise themselves as everyday objects. Talos I is one connected place you can explore in any order, and nearly every problem has several solutions. Neuromods let you learn human skills or alien powers, while tools like the GLOO cannon can freeze enemies or build paths to unreachable areas. Crafting, recycling and side quests reward curiosity.

Key Features

  • Open space station – Explore Talos I freely and find your own routes
  • Alien powers – Mimic objects, use telekinesis or hack with neuromods
  • Creative tools – The GLOO cannon fights enemies and builds new paths
  • Many solutions – Combat, stealth, hacking or engineering
  • Choices matter – Decisions about the crew shape the ending

Why Buy This Game?

Prey is a favourite among fans of immersive sims because it trusts you to experiment. The station is tightly designed, the Typhon keep you on edge long after you learn their tricks, and the story rewards careful reading of logs and emails. It runs well on older hardware and is often found at a modest price for a game of this depth.

Related Games

Much of Prey’s DNA comes from System Shock 2, the 1999 classic in which a lone survivor explores a corrupted starship, upgrades cybernetic skills and listens to audio logs from a dead crew. Arkane’s own Dishonored 2 applies the same philosophy to the plague-ridden city of Karnaca, where supernatural powers and stealth open many routes through every level. For a modern take on the station-horror formula, System Shock rebuilds Citadel Station and the rogue AI SHODAN with updated visuals and combat. Players who enjoy Talos I’s tense corridors and alien threats may also like Dead Space (2008), a third-person horror shooter set aboard the mining ship USG Ishimura.
