About The Sacred Tears TRUE

The Sacred Tears TRUE is a Japanese doujin role-playing game developed by AlphaNuts. Steam release date: 25 September 2014.

Seil and his childhood friend Seana are rookie members of the Thieves Guild in Genoseed City. By day they run a small private investigation agency, by night they take on guild jobs all over town. Fights use a simple-looking but deep card battle system, skill points can be redistributed freely, and the story is split into 48 chapters of 5 to 30 minutes each, 24 main and 24 side cases, that slowly build into a larger drama. Character art is by Takashi Konno and the soundtrack by Hiroyuki Ojima and Haruka Shimotsuki.

Related Games

The Sacred Tears TRUE is a love letter to 16-bit era JRPGs, and Sea of Stars is the modern game that wears that same influence most proudly, with turn-based fights that reward timing and a soundtrack that partly comes from veteran Japanese composers. If the slow-building story told in small episodes is what kept you going, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter continues a long, character-driven saga where city errands and guild work matter as much as the big plot. Final Fantasy IX is the classic to go back to for a lovable cast of thieves, knights and misfits, and Final Fantasy III offers an old-school party RPG with a job system that, like the redistributable skill points here, lets you rebuild your team whenever you like.
