Godsworn is a classic real-time strategy game set in a fantasy world inspired by Baltic mythology. It was developed and published by Thunderoak Interactive and launched in Early Access on 28 March 2024 for Windows. The game offers an epic fantasy retelling of the Baltic Crusades, telling the story of pagan gods and their tribes as they clash with crusaders and the armies of heaven. It draws on the tradition of the great fantasy strategy games of the past while adding ideas of its own, especially around heroes and the way your economy works.

At the centre of every match stands a divine hero. You can protect your followers and burn your enemies with the light of the sun as the goddess Saule, strike under the cover of darkness as the moon god Meness, or join the Order and smite the heathens as the archangel Michael. Each hero brings unique units, buildings and upgrades on top of those from their faction, so the choice of hero shapes your whole playstyle. Learning how each one fights is a large part of the fun, and it gives every battle a different rhythm.

The economy is built around worship. Devoted followers flock to your shrine, gather resources and build cities so you can raise great armies for the battles to come. While they pray they grant you faith, a powerful resource used for mythical creatures and god powers. Godsworn uses an easy to pick up system where workers automatically respond to globally issued tasks and return to generating faith when idle. This keeps the busywork low and lets you focus on planning your attacks, defending your people and timing your divine abilities.

The story campaign is fully voiced and can be played alone or together with a second player. It has been designed with shared play in mind, so the character choice can lead to unique interactions or at times a completely different gameplay role. While exploring the maps you can find secrets and gather glyphs that help you turn the tide of battle. The wild pagan lands have been under the watchful eye of the gods for as long as time, and the arrival of a knight order bearing the banner of Heaven threatens to upset the uneasy alliance.

Glyphs carry over beyond the campaign. You can use the ones you have found to add variation to your hero and faction in both skirmish and challenge maps, which encourages experimentation and gives each new match a personal touch. Mythical creatures fight beside human warriors, winged angels descend on the battlefield and glowing portals open in the middle of the fighting. Villages of wooden houses gather around sacred trees, and dense forests and rocky clearings frame the action with a detailed, painterly look.

Godsworn is still in Early Access, so content and balance continue to develop. It supports achievements, cloud saves, adjustable difficulty, camera comfort settings and a mouse only option, and it can be played without timed input. Its requirements are moderate, and a special potato mode is offered for very low-end hardware. Text and full audio are available in English. The game is rated USK 16 in Germany for intense violence and 14 in Brazil, so it is aimed at older teenagers and adults.
