About Wildermyth

Wildermyth is a party-based tactical RPG developed by Worldwalker Games and published together with WhisperGames, released on 15 June 2021 for Windows, macOS and Linux. It follows heroes over their whole careers, from their pitchfork days as reluctant farmers to their powerful primes and on into old age and memory. Inspired by the best tabletop roleplaying sessions, it answers every decision with consequences that reshape both the world and your cast of characters.

Each campaign is generated anew, so unique heroes are born in unique settings every time you play. Every character arrives with a personal history, a personality and an appearance of their own, and those traits shift as the story unfolds. Heroes age, disagree, fall in love, encounter mysteries and make harrowing sacrifices, which means the tale you remember afterwards belongs to your table alone and rarely repeats itself.

Choices carry permanent weight. A hero may decide to trust the enigmatic wolf god, leading to a hair-raising change in appearance and combat abilities. Two heroes might pursue a romance, gaining a shared buff and new story opportunities along the way. Encounters and events leave character-defining marks, so over a campaign you shape the arc of each person, from humble beginnings to the moment their legend is finally written.

Death is handled in an unusual way. When a favourite character falls to a tentacled horror-bear or another dreadful foe, you can let them fall back with a maiming that opens transformative new paths in their legend. Alternatively, they can go out in a blaze of glory and be remembered for generations. Favourite heroes can even be reintroduced in later adventures, slowly forming a personal pantheon across many lifetimes.

Combat emphasises teamwork and careful positioning on interactive battlefields. Walling and flanking mechanics provide clear but conflicting incentives, while mystical interfusion lets your mystics merge with objects in the environment and remake the battlefield with explosive magic. Multiple difficulty levels let you choose how intense the fights become, from a relaxed story-focused journey to a punishing test where every lost hero truly hurts.

The setting is the Yondering Lands, a richly layered papercraft world populated with hand-painted 2D characters and scenery. Familiar fantasy staples are left behind, so you will meet no orcs, elves or goblins, but you should watch out for telepathic insect-dragons and the clockwork undead. Up to five players can play together, each controlling their own heroes, and a level editor with Workshop support adds endless community stories.
