Chef: A Restaurant Tycoon Game is a restaurant management simulation developed by Innervoid Interactive and published by Digital Tribe. After a period of early access it received its full release on 20 August 2020. You put on the apron yourself and start with little more than pocket change, a modest dining room and an ambitious dream. From there the goal is to climb from humble cook to world-famous chef and turn one small venue into a gastronomic empire.
Every decision is yours. You choose where the restaurant opens, how the kitchen and dining room are laid out, who works there and what goes on the menu. House policies, prices and the overall concept shape which guests come through the door. Will it be a steakhouse, a vegan paradise, a pasta palace or an experimental cooking lab? The game lets each path develop its own clientele, so the identity you pick really matters over time.
The recipe editor sits at the heart of the experience. You combine ingredients and the skills your chef has learned into one-of-a-kind dishes, and each creation is rated by taste and aroma. Your avatar levels up across six skill trees with more than one hundred abilities, which opens new techniques and better results in the kitchen. Decoration matters too, with over 150 floor and wall variations and more than 200 appliances and decorative pieces that you can place and colour individually.
You can play in a free sandbox where all management choices are yours or follow a story mode with offbeat challenges. Chef is rated USK 12 and suits players who enjoy business sims, menu planning and slowly growing a small venue into a famous brand.
