About Corridor 7: Alien Invasion
Corridor 7: Alien Invasion is a classic first-person shooter from the 1990s, developed by Capstone Software and now playable again on modern systems through DOSBox. The story begins when scientists experiment with a strange metallic object brought back from Mars. Their tests open a gateway to another dimension inside the top-secret research facility known as Corridor 7, and alien creatures pour out through it. You play a lone Special Forces agent sent in to eradicate the invaders and close the gateway before the outbreak spreads beyond the laboratory walls.
This release includes all 46 levels from the CD-ROM version of the game, giving you a long campaign through laboratories, storage areas and alien-infested sectors of the base. You have nine different weapons to choose from, and each one suits a different situation, from quick encounters to large groups of enemies. Exploration matters as much as firepower, since the corridors hide keys, secret areas and dangers that reward careful players who take time to search every corner of the facility.
Two pieces of equipment set Corridor 7 apart from many shooters of its time. An infrared visor lets you spot traps that would otherwise stay invisible, and night vision allows you to track enemies through dark sections of the base. There is also a special Presidential Level that is different every time you play, adding variety for returning players. An atmospheric soundtrack builds the tension as you move deeper into the compromised facility and face ever stronger alien forms.
The game is designed as a single-player experience in English. As stated on its GOG store page, the game runs through DOSBox. System requirements are minimal, so it runs on practically any modern Windows computer, and a macOS version is available as well. For fans of retro shooters from the era of early 3D action, Corridor 7: Alien Invasion is a nostalgic trip that combines simple, direct controls with exploration, secrets and a classic science fiction premise.
