About Dawn of Defiance
Dawn of Defiance is a Greek mythology survival adventure developed by Traega Entertainment and published by Fireshine Games, launched in Early Access on 15 August 2024. You are a fallen Spartan cast into the Crossroads, a liminal realm between the mortal world and the Underworld. Denied the warrior’s afterlife you were promised, you must rise from a spurned mortal to a legend who rivals the gods themselves. The journey takes you across a vast, beautiful and treacherous continent full of ancient ruins, wild landscapes and forgotten secrets.
Survival forms the foundation of every adventure. You hunt, gather and craft from the land to grow in strength, turning simple materials into tools, armour and weapons. With enough stamina you gain the divine power of gliding, which lets you reach the furthest corners of the map, uncover valuable loot and solve ancient riddles hidden in the ruins. Along the way mythical beasts and fallen heroes stand in your path, and defeating them is the key to collecting the resources needed for stronger equipment.
Building is just as important as fighting. You can start with a humble shelter and expand it into sprawling temple complexes and grand monuments that show off your power, shaping an idyllic Greek palace in your own style. The world is yours to claim, and each new structure becomes a base for further expeditions. The greatest challenge awaits inside the temples of the Olympians, where powerful bosses guard the seals of Olympus and the iconic weapons of the gods wait to be seized.
The game can be played fully solo and offline or in online co-op with up to four players. Friends can split up to explore the land faster and share quest rewards, while character customisation and custom server settings let you tune the intensity of the experience. Cross-play is handled through Epic Online Services, which installs a small dependency but needs neither the Epic Games Store nor an Epic account. Controller support for DualShock and DualSense pads, adjustable difficulty and cloud saves are included.
