About Fields of Glory

Fields of Glory is a historical strategy game from MicroProse, first released in 1993 and now published by Ziggurat Interactive. It takes you back to 1815, when Napoleon escaped from exile on the island of Elba, returned to France and made his way to Paris in triumph. His disbanded troops once again took up arms and flocked to his colours, and the defeated ruler of Europe was Emperor of France once more. The Allies were taken by surprise, and the master military tactician was back on the field.

The Anglo-Allied army commanded by the Duke of Wellington was based in Belgium, and he would have to combine forces with Blücher’s Prussians to defeat Napoleon. The Emperor marched north to drive a wedge between the two armies, and the battle lines were drawn for the Waterloo Campaign. You can take control of the Anglo-Allied, French or Prussian forces, the armies that shaped the future of Europe, and try to win the campaign on your own terms, whether by repeating history or rewriting it.

On the battlefield you control thousands of troops, either watching close-up conflicts as regiments clash or switching to wider, tactical views that show the whole line. Orders are issued quickly and effortlessly through a user-friendly point-and-click interface, so you can focus on manoeuvre and timing. Battles range from small engagements to the huge battles of Waterloo and Ligny. The action is pure, thundering and against the clock, pushing you to your limits and recreating the pressure and tension of active combat command.

Fields of Glory is a single-player game with English, German and French language support. It runs on Windows 7, 8 and 10 through DOSBox and is also available for macOS, with very light requirements of 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of storage. For players who enjoy historical wargames, Napoleonic history and the classic MicroProse style of strategy, it offers a chance to command one of the most famous campaigns ever fought. Take your place on the ridge, read the field and decide the fate of 1815.
