About Hero's Hour
Hero's Hour is an accessible, yet deep and content rich strategy roleplaying game created by Benjamin Hauer, also known as ThingOnItsOwn, and published by Goblinz Publishing and Maple Whispering Limited in March 2022. You take control of your hero, explore the world, build up your town, fight fast paced battles, level up your hero and amass an army large enough to take out the opponents before they take you out. Its charming pixel art and quick pace make every campaign feel lively from the first turn.
The game mixes two rhythms in a clever way. Exploring the overworld and developing your town and army are both turn based, which gives you time to think and plan out your next moves. Battles, on the other hand, play out in real time, and your units do their best to fight for themselves, all hundreds of them at once. You cast spells and give attack orders to swing the tide of battle, or you can simply sit back and watch as your might unfolds across the field.
Procedural generation brings real variety to the strategy formula. Every time you play there are new areas to explore and strange buildings that enhance your hero or army. Obelisks scattered across the map start small procedural quests that send you around the world, and you will not even be able to use the same build order each time you play the same faction. The content list is huge, with 11 factions, 22 hero classes, 50 common hero skills, 177 units with 99 upgraded versions, 80 unique unit abilities, 166 artifacts and 83 spells, plus 18 more spells unlocked via skills.
Local hotseat matches let friends share one PC, and you can also team up with the AI. Because it moves faster than most turn based strategy games, you may even finish the hotseat games that you start. A built in level editor and Workshop support add fresh maps, while 61 achievements and cloud saves keep your progress safe. It runs on 64-bit Windows 7 and supports English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian and Chinese. The minimum setup needs a dual-core 2 GHz CPU, 512 MB of RAM, an AMD Radeon HD 6250 or better DirectX 11 graphics card and 100 MB of storage, so it suits nearly any PC.
