The story begins in the Age of Wonders, once a time of magic and peace. That age was swept into chaos by the arrival of a single, uninvited race: the Humans. The fragile balance between the ancient races, among them Elves, Dwarves and Orcs, turned into a struggle for power and survival in the turmoil the Humans brought to the land. You will uncover wondrous ancient artifacts, awesome magical power and the secrets of a shattered empire. The single-player campaign can be played from the light and the dark side, so you decide whether to ally with the forces of light or darkness and shape the fate of the world.
Twelve unique fantasy races, over 50 different heroes with upgradable abilities, dozens of spells and scores of locations to explore give each game plenty of depth. You can forge strategic alliances with compatible races to use the unique skills and abilities of each. On the battlefield you employ strategic and tactical skills to command troops, capture vital locations and defeat your enemies. You battle across vast open lands, breach the outer wall in city sieges and explore deadly dungeons in search of treasure and power.
Age of Wonders also offers multiplayer against friends through hotseat play, play-by-email, LAN or the internet, and the LAN and internet modes add simultaneous turns for a faster pace. The game is available in English, and its system requirements are very modest, so it runs on practically any Windows computer.
