About Inferno - Beyond the 7th Circle
Inferno - Beyond the 7th Circle is an old-school dungeon crawler with survival elements, developed and published by 68k Studios and released in April 2021. The world is dominated by demons. Few humans survived, and now they are just a minority on the planet. You are one of those survivors, struggling every day to find food and resources while demons and abominations rule over the Earth. The game is made for hardcore players and for fans of the computer role-playing games of the 80s and 90s, and it wears that inspiration proudly in its grid-based movement, its stern difficulty and its love of careful exploration.
The game is the spiritual successor of The 7th Circle, but it takes a more classic approach to the dungeon crawler genre. You can now save and load whenever you want, and if you die you simply reload your last saved game, so a single mistake no longer costs you the whole journey. The content has grown as well, with more items, more skills, more spells, more tasks and quests and plenty of resources to find. Exploration happens in first person, one grid square at a time, through stone corridors, dark forests and overgrown ruins, and the huge map hides secret areas, puzzles to solve and many demons waiting to be put down.
Combat is turn-based, so you can take your time and plan your strategy before every action. It all starts with character creation, where you choose attributes, skills, traits, personality and background, and the deep customisation system lets each survivor develop in a different direction. Skills improve as you use them: the more you swing an axe, for example, the better your Bladed Weapon skill becomes. Magic follows its own rules. You can learn more than 70 Magic Formulas to cast spells, and the resources you gather can be used to empower your magic and make each formula hit harder.
Survival is never far from your mind. You search for food, clean water and other resources, then craft items, weapons, armour and useful tools from what you find, which turns every trip into the wilderness into a careful calculation of risk and reward. Tasks and quests give the journey structure, while hidden areas reward anyone who checks every wall and corner. The GOG version runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is available in English. If you miss the tough, rewarding crawlers of decades past, this demon-haunted world is waiting for you.
