About Lichdom: Battlemage

Lichdom: Battlemage is a first-person action RPG developed by Xaviant, a team of industry veterans based in Atlanta, and published by Xaviant Games. Its big idea is simple: this is a game where the mage takes the spotlight. You do not carry a sword or a bow and you do not hide behind a party of warriors. Instead, you hold limitless magical power in your own two hands and face brutal enemies waiting around every corner. Victory depends on both skill and strategy, because the way you build and use your spells decides every fight.

The heart of the game is its deep spell crafting system, summed up by the motto you are your spells. You gather and combine magical components to create a vast array of spells, with thousands of possible combinations. Every mage ends up as the product of the magic they have crafted, so two players can approach the same fight in very different ways. You can tune spells to hit foes from a safe distance, to unleash raw power at point-blank range, or to turn enemies against each other while you watch the chaos unfold.

Combat is fast and frenetic. There are no mana bars and no cooldowns holding you back, so the only limits are your aim, your timing and the spells you have prepared. A typical encounter has three layers. Crowd Control magic locks enemies down or keeps them at bay. Mastery effects apply debuffs that leave foes weak and exposed. Finally, charged critical Destruction spells detonate everything you have set up in one powerful blast. Learning to chain these layers in the heat of battle is what separates a struggling apprentice from a true battlemage.

The world is a dark fantasy of grim fortresses, crumbling halls and undead horrors, and it gives your magic plenty to light up. The game was shaped with community feedback during its Early Access period before its full release in 2014. The GOG version is a single-player experience in English and runs on Windows 7 or 8. For players who always wished the mage could be the true star of an action game, Lichdom: Battlemage delivers exactly that. Craft your spells, step into the fight and see how much power one mage can unleash.
