About Maize

Maize is a first-person comedy adventure developed and published by Finish Line Games. Steam release date: 1 December 2016.

Two scientists misread a memo from the US government and accidentally create sentient corn, and that is the least ridiculous thing about Maize. You wake up on an abandoned farm and explore its fields, barns and a not-so-abandoned underground research facility, piecing together what happened through notes and environmental puzzles that become more absurd the deeper you go. Along the way you meet a cast of talking corn stalks and Vladdy, a tiny, grumpy Russian robot bear who reluctantly helps you. Expect a short, story-driven experience built on dry humour and surprises rather than reflexes.

Key Features

  • Sentient corn – a story that gets stranger and stranger.
  • Environmental puzzles – increasingly absurd.
  • Vladdy the bear – a grumpy robot companion.
  • Farm and secret lab – two very different areas.
  • Dry humour – jokes hidden everywhere.

Related Games

If Maize's deadpan absurdity is what you loved, Goat Simulator pushes silliness even further, letting you cause chaos as a goat whose physics are as broken as they are funny. For a quieter first-person exploration of an empty house and the story it hides, Gone Home tells a moving family tale through notes and objects. Psychonauts 2 shares Maize's offbeat humour and imagination, taking you inside the strange minds of colourful characters. And if the environmental puzzles were your favourite part, The Witness fills a beautiful island with hundreds of line puzzles that teach their own rules.
