About Master of Magic
Master of Magic is a modern remake of the legendary 1994 fantasy strategy game, rebuilt by MuHa Games and Eerie Forest Studio and published by Slitherine in 2022. It combines the empire building of a classic 4X strategy title with the hero management and character growth of a role-playing game. You take on the role of one of 14 great wizards, each with a distinct personality and starting strengths, who compete to dominate the twin worlds of Arcanus and Myrror. In the end, there can be only one Master of Magic.
Before each game you shape your wizard by choosing from five schools of magic, Life, Death, Chaos, Nature and Sorcery, and from 18 traits that change how you play. From there you found cities, expand your borders and recruit armies drawn from 14 fantasy races, including elves, dwarves, trolls, draconians, orcs, klackons and gnolls. Each race has its own strengths and buildings, and the game offers 196 unit types in total. Heroes join your cause, gain experience and wear more than 250 magical items, and you can craft your own artifacts too.
Magic sits at the center of everything. You research more than 200 spells, summon fantastic creatures, enchant your troops, curse rival lands and perform rituals that reshape the world itself. When armies meet, the game switches to tactical turn-based battles where positioning, unit abilities and well-timed spells decide the outcome. Meanwhile, rival wizards scheme, form alliances and declare wars, so diplomacy matters just as much as raw power. Exploring the mysterious parallel plane of Myrror, connected through magical towers, opens new races, resources and dangers.
This edition includes the free Through the Myrror update, which adds four new wizards, five new traits, the goblin race and new unit skills and abilities. Cloud saves are supported, and the game runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Veterans of the original will find the depth they remember with modern visuals and a friendlier interface, while newcomers get a rich fantasy strategy game with huge replay value, since every combination of wizard, magic school and race plays differently.
