About Permafrost
Permafrost is a grounded, story-driven open-world survival game set on a near-future Earth locked in endless winter. A chain of catastrophes ended with the shattering of the moon, and what remains of civilisation lies buried under snow and ice.
You play as a Rook, an engineer with the skills to rebuild but little wilderness experience, drawn into this frozen world by a radio signal from a long-lost friend. You explore frozen cities and open wilderness, hunt, scavenge and craft, navigate faction-controlled territory and build a network of shelters to endure the cold.
The cold itself is the true enemy. Frostbite, storms and creeping chill shape every journey, so preparation, shelter and timing matter more than firepower. Progress is earned through exploration: you restore abandoned shelters, repair broken machines and reclaim fragile technology to push deeper into the world. Permafrost is currently in Early Access on Steam and continues to grow with updates.
At your side is a dog rescued from the ruins, who scouts ahead, warns of danger and carries supplies. You can face the winter alone or with up to three friends, sharing duties and building shelter networks together, for a quiet, tense survival experience shaped by silence and scarcity.
