About Raiden V: Director's Cut
Raiden V: Director's Cut is a vertical shoot ’em up from MOSS, published on PC by UFO Interactive Games in October 2017. The Raiden series first left its mark on arcade halls more than 25 years ago, and this release brings it to computers in its most modern and complete form. The Director's Cut name is the official title of the PC version and includes exclusive levels that were added for this edition.
The story follows the war for Earth’s future against a mysterious enemy force. Unusually for the genre, it is told through voiced radio chatter and a live data panel at the side of the screen, giving each mission a sense of drama. Voice acting appears for the first time in the series, and branching routes mean different stages can follow depending on how well you perform.
At its core this is an easy-to-learn, hard-to-master arcade shooter. You choose one of three distinct ships, each with its own defence, mobility and sub-weapons, and select from classic Raiden weapons such as the spreading vulcan, the piercing laser and homing plasma. A new damage system uses a health bar, which makes runs more forgiving for newcomers while still rewarding precise dodging.
The Cheer Attack system adds a social twist. Your performance fills a gauge that temporarily boosts sub-weapons, letting you shred tough waves and bosses. Up to two players can team up in local co-op on one screen, and online leaderboards let you compare scores with pilots worldwide. Bright explosions, detailed 3D backgrounds and a driving soundtrack complete the arcade feel.
